The 3D Video Server from Multi-Dimensional Studios is based on a rackmount computer server system:

The 3D Video Server uses standard graphics cards from ATI or nVidia along with the Matrox DualHead2Go graphics expansion module to display 3D video on a projector. The Matrox DualHead2Go graphics expansion module splits a side-by-side encoded video on to two video outputs - one for the left eye and one for the right eye - to be used with a 3D projection system.

Advantages

The MDS 3D Video Server with a Matrox DualHead2Go graphics expansion module has the following advantages over 3D server systems:

  • Low cost - the Matrox DualHead2Go graphics expansion module costs considerably less than other 3D video decoding hardware.

  • No additional licensing - some 3D software systems like Stereoscopic Player require additional licensing for public display.

  • Guaranteed video synchronization - the Matrox DualHead2Go system plays video encoded in a side-by-side format, guaranteeing that each eye of the 3D video will remain in synch during the presentation. Some players that use two separate video streams may drift in and out of synch during a show.
